About Azita

Azita Sobhani is a dynamic professional – currently she is the director at Edraak consulting. She brings to bear her skills to corporate, Government and not for profit sector in Australia in operation and designs of community services especially settlement services to enhance social cohesion.

Trained as a development economist, Azita started her career as a financial Planner with National Australia Bank before venturing into the international aid and development industry where she draws the bulk of her experience in managing bilateral or multilateral aid programs (Timor Leste, Indonesia, Philippines, and Tibet / China etc.).

These programs come with multiple stakeholders (host country and the Australian government), tight deadlines, large budgets, and entail managing a suite of experts (in Finance, Public health, education, environment, gender etc.) sourced globally who then work in geographic and culturally diverse settings. As a result, she is a highly experienced relationship manger and brings with her a high order of negotiation and strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively across cultures, faiths and ethnicities.

Experience in leading multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams allows Azita to facilitate organizational change and provide the necessary leadership consciously and with fluidity. Managing teams of professionals from diverse industries especially in multi-cultural multi-faith environments can be extremely complex. Her inclusive and collaborative management style has always sought to bring together converging views within a common framework. The convergence is often used as a lens to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs’ with all stakeholders.

Azita is a trained Executive Coach and conflict resolution mediator.

Her approach to her professional and community work is underpinned by strong sense of social justice and humanity’s inherent oneness.
